14 jobs, with the range behind every figure

What a Wolf repair costs, and what moves the number.

Every figure here is a starting point with its market range printed beside it, not a quote. The exact cost is settled after a diagnostic, because the same code covers a burner cap you can reseat and a generator you cannot — and a number guessed over the phone is either padded or cannot be honored.

  • from $95 diagnostic, credited to the repair
  • $155 the least expensive repair here

By job

What each repair starts at

With the national range it sits against, what moves it up or down, and — where it applies — the free thing to try before spending anything.

  • Diagnostic visit cost

What a first visit costs, and why it is the only honest way to price a repair. The fee is credited toward the work when you go ahead, so on a job we carry out it is not an extra line.

    • Credited toward the repair when you approve it
    • The code read in whichever alphabet your appliance speaks
    • A second appliance at the same address costs less than a second visit
    What moves this figure
  • Burner & igniter repair cost

What it costs when a burner clicks and will not light — and the honest note that a real share of these end with a burner cap seated squarely and no part at all.

    • National range for igniters: $150–$400
    • The cap is free to check and it is often the answer
    • Igniters are replaced per burner, not as a set
    What moves this figure
  • Dual fuel range repair cost

What it costs to repair a professional range, and why the width and the fuel move the figure more than anything else. Two appliances on one chassis, priced as the half that has failed.

    • National range for range repair: $150–$600
    • The figure assumes one half of the appliance
    • Width and configuration decide the visit length
    What moves this figure
  • Oven element & sensor cost

What it costs when an oven will not heat or will not hold a temperature. The code usually names the circuit, which is the part of the diagnosis that would otherwise cost an hour.

    • National ranges: sensor $100–$250, element $150–$450
    • The code names bake, broil or convection before anyone opens it
    • On a double, the cavity is in the code
    What moves this figure
  • Oven door lock repair cost

What it costs to free an oven locked shut after a cleaning cycle — and the free thing to try first, which releases a great many of them.

    • National range: $100–$250
    • Letting it go completely cold costs nothing and often works
    • The one job here we try to reach the same day
    What moves this figure
  • Oven fan repair cost

What a fan costs, and why the cooling one is worth doing before it stops. It is what keeps the boards behind the fascia alive, and a control board is several times the price.

    • National range for a fan motor: $150–$450
    • Cooling fan first, even while the oven still bakes
    • The code names the fan, the cavity and the side
    What moves this figure
  • Control board replacement cost

The most expensive routine repair on this equipment, and the one most often ordered without needing to be. Damp and supply problems read exactly the same and cost nothing.

    • National range for boards: $150–$300 on mainstream equipment
    • Damp on a board clears on its own more often than people expect
    • The code says which of the two boards, before anything is ordered
    What moves this figure
  • Cooktop & induction repair cost

What induction work costs when it is real — and the plain statement that a large share of these calls end with an appliance that was working correctly the whole time.

    • Induction repairs commonly quoted above $200
    • Two pans and two zones settle most of it for nothing
    • A generator is one zone, not the whole cooktop
    What moves this figure
  • Cooktop glass replacement cost

The single most expensive routine part on this site, and the one where there is genuinely no repair option. A cracked ceramic surface is replaced, and the appliance should be off at the breaker until it is.

    • Premium ceramic surfaces commonly $300–$600
    • Ordered to the model, never to the measured size
    • Breaker off from the moment it cracks
    What moves this figure
  • Steam oven descaling cost

The best money anybody spends on this appliance in South Florida, and by a distance the cheapest way to avoid the most expensive repair on the site.

    • Descaling commonly $120–$250
    • The maker's own agent, never vinegar
    • Cheaper every time than a scaled-up boiler
    What moves this figure
  • Steam oven boiler repair cost

When descaling is no longer the answer. A plumbing appliance inside an oven cavity, in a built-in housing, tested wet before anybody leaves.

    • Steam oven repairs commonly $200–$700
    • The valve and hose end is far below the boiler end
    • Ninety-odd published conditions belong to this machine
    What moves this figure
  • Range hood repair cost

The cheapest visit on the site more often than not, and the one where the first thing to try costs nothing at all: the filters go in the dishwasher.

    • Hood repairs commonly $100–$400
    • Filters are free and they are often the answer
    • A remote blower may not be in the kitchen
    What moves this figure
  • Microwave repair cost

On a drawer model the commonest repair is the mechanism rather than anything to do with heating, which is much better news than the alternative.

    • Microwave repairs commonly $100–$300
    • A drawer drive is the frequent job, not the magnetron
    • The high-voltage side is never an owner repair
    What moves this figure
  • Installation cost

Fitting professional cooking equipment into a finished kitchen. Most of what goes wrong in the first year is decided on installation day — clearance, gas and ventilation.

    • Installation commonly $150–$500
    • Orifices matched to the fuel actually supplied
    • Anti-tip fitted, not left in the box
    What moves this figure

Where the money actually goes

Three things are expensive here, and the badge is not one of them.

A professional chassis somebody has to work around in place. An induction generator, which is a power supply in its own right. A steam oven with plumbing inside an oven cavity. Those three set the top of this list, and each of their pages says so in those words.

Everything else follows the work rather than the make. Ventilation is the cheap end and reads that way; a knob, a filter, a burner cap seated wrong and most induction call-outs cost the visit and nothing more. Where that is the honest answer, the page says it before you have paid to hear it.

Want a narrower number?

The model and the code get you most of the way there.

This brand decodes almost everything it displays, and all 414 published conditions are on this site. A code read out on the phone, with the model number, is usually enough for us to name the job and the likely band before anybody drives anywhere.

Book the diagnostic, and get the figure in writing.

The $95 comes off the bill when you go ahead with the work.
