# Wolf oven fan will not turn off

### The fastest diagnosis is the code

Time it. A professional oven stores a great deal of heat and runs its cooling fan until the electronics are cool — twenty minutes to an hour after a long roast is entirely normal. A fan that has been running since yesterday is not.

### The page that talks people out of a call

Most of what arrives here is an appliance working exactly as designed. Professional ovens are heavily insulated and hold heat for a long time, and the cooling fan runs until a sensor behind the fascia says the electronics have come down. In an air-conditioned kitchen that is twenty minutes. In a Miami kitchen in August with a second appliance in the same stack it can be a great deal longer.

### When it is genuinely stuck

A fan that runs with the appliance off at the control and does not stop for anything is a stuck relay or a thermistor reading high, and both are published conditions. The test is the breaker: if power off and back on gives you a quiet appliance, nothing has failed.

Normal run-on

The commonest answer by a distance. The fan runs until a thermistor behind the fascia says the electronics are cool, and after self-clean that can be a long time.

A hot kitchen

In a South Florida summer the electronics area starts warm and takes longer to come down. Nothing is wrong.

The thermistor watching that area

Reading high, so the fan never gets permission to stop. Published as its own condition, open and shorted separately.

A relay stuck closed

The fan has power all the time. This is the version that runs with the appliance completely off and does not stop for anything.

A second appliance in the same housing

A microwave or a second oven heating the shared cabinet keeps the first one's fan going. Published here as an ambient condition, which is unusually candid of the maker.

Time it from the moment the oven goes off

Twenty minutes is normal. Two hours after a self-clean is normal. Overnight is not.

Cut the breaker and see

If the fan stops and stays stopped when power returns, nothing is stuck.

Check what else is in the cabinet

A microwave above or a second oven below changes the arithmetic.

Feel the vent air

Warm air means it is doing its job. Cold air an hour later means it should have stopped.

Usually the appliance behaving correctly

What it usually means

Fan running long after the oven is off

Fan starting on its own with the oven cold

Fan that never stops at all
