# Wolf oven fan not working

### The fastest diagnosis is the code

Stand at the vent above the door with the oven heating. A cooling fan that is running is clearly audible. If there is silence there, stop using the oven and book it — the fan is what keeps the boards behind the fascia alive.

### Two fans, two urgencies

The convection fan moves air around your food. The cooling fan keeps the electronics alive. A stopped convection fan is a cooking problem you will notice and can live with for a week. A stopped cooling fan is an appliance heating its own control board every time you use it, and that is the repair that turns into a much larger one.

### What the codes give you

This maker publishes more about fans than almost anything else: a stalled cooling fan per cavity, a fan running below its speed threshold, the sensing switch that reports it, and four separate convection fan drive conditions by cavity and side. If there is a code, it has already named the part.

The cooling fan motor

Published per cavity, with its stall sensing named separately. This is the urgent one.

A convection fan drive triac

Four separate published conditions — upper and lower, left and right. The code says which.

Bearings going in a fan motor

It starts as noise and ends as a stall. Noise is the warning and it is worth acting on.

Blocked airflow

A vent stacked against, a housing built without its clearance gap. The fan is fine and the path is not, and it reports as a fan error.

The sensing rather than the fan

The switch or sensor that tells the board the fan is turning. The fan runs and nobody believes it.

Listen at the vent

Above the door, oven hot. This is the whole first check.

Look for what is stacked against it

Cookbooks, a bread bin, a run of cabinetry closed in after the oven went in.

Convection against bake

If only convection cooking is uneven, the cavity fan is the suspect rather than the cooling fan.

Note any noise

A fan that has become loud is a fan that is going. That is a cheaper visit than the one after it stops.

Which fan decides how urgent it is

What it usually means

Silence above the door with the oven hot

Convection cooking gone uneven

A code naming a fan, a triac or a stall
