# What an Appliance Service Call Costs in South Florida — and What It Should Include

## The market, honestly

A service call in South Florida generally sits between **$59 and $129**. That is the visit and the diagnosis, not the repair.

The number on its own tells you very little. What matters is what happens to it, and there are three common arrangements:

- **Credited against the repair** when you go ahead. This is the arrangement we use, and the fee effectively disappears on any job we carry out.- **Charged separately** on top of the repair.- **"Free estimate"**, where the visit is recovered inside the repair price instead — sometimes fine, sometimes not, and impossible to compare without asking.

**Ask which one it is before booking.** It is the single biggest reason two apparently similar quotes are not comparable.

## What the visit should leave behind

**A named part, not a symptom.** "The bake element is open" rather than "the oven is not heating".

**A figure in writing, before anything is opened.** Including what happens if the part turns out not to be the problem.

**An honest answer about whether it is worth it.** On built-in cooking equipment repair usually wins, because a replacement has to match a cutout somebody built a kitchen around. When it does not win, you should hear that from the repair company.

**What happens if you do nothing.** Sometimes nothing. Sometimes a cooling fan quietly cooking a control board.

## What the fee actually buys on this equipment

An hour of somebody who has had the back off one of these before. On this brand that matters more than usual: the current generation reports errors as four characters where the last two name the cavity and the board, and the legacy machines use E-numbers and word messages. Knowing which alphabet is in front of you starts the job three steps ahead.

**Have the model and the code ready.** With those two, a phone conversation often narrows a repair to a band before anybody drives anywhere — and occasionally establishes that you do not need a visit at all.

## Questions worth asking anybody

- Is the service call credited against the repair?- Do you work on this make specifically?- Will I get the figure in writing before work starts?- Are parts OEM, and are they ordered against my model number?- What warranty covers the labor?

None of those are awkward questions and all of them are answered in a sentence.

## Where our figures come from

Every "from" price on this site sits beside the national range it was drawn against, and the reasoning is published rather than implied. [The full list of what each job starts at](/repair-cost/), and [what the diagnostic covers](/services/diagnostic-visit/).
