# Wolf ranges

### Dual fuel, all gas, induction — three ranges under one name

A Wolf range comes as dual fuel, all gas or with an induction top, and telling us which you have, and whether the trouble is above or below the worktop, is most of the diagnosis. On dual fuel the two halves fail independently: a cooktop that works perfectly says nothing at all about the oven under it.

### What actually goes wrong

- **A burner that will not light.** Usually the cap seated a fraction off after a clean. If the cap is true, that burner’s igniter has aged past lighting the gas and is replaced on its own.
- **An oven that will not reach temperature.** On dual fuel that is an element, a sensor or a relay. On all gas it is normally the oven igniter, still glowing and no longer hot enough to open the valve.
- **A four-character code on the panel.** The current generation reports errors as 3C20, 0221, 5521 and the like, where the last two characters name the cavity and the board. Every one this brand publishes is decoded here.
- **A door that will not unlock after a self-clean.** That is the motorized latch, and it is the one error worth calling about the same day.

### Widths, and why they change the visit

Thirty inches to sixty. A 48-inch dual fuel with a griddle down the middle and two cavities under it is a different appointment from a 30-inch all-gas, and both are called a Wolf range. Width, fuel and whether there is an infrared griddle or a charbroiler in the deck decide which parts ride in the van.

### What to have ready when you call

The model number from the plate behind the kick panel, whether it is gas or dual fuel, and whether the trouble is above or below the worktop. If there is a code on the display, that too — on this brand it is worth more than any description.
